Monterey Bay Aquarium

I attended a meeting in California’s Central Coast this week. Situated on Cannery Row, one of our dinners took place at the very scenic Monterey Bay Aquarium.

This is the view from the back deck of the aquarium overlooking Monterey Bay. We had half of the aquarium to ourselves (the Open Sea and Jellyfish exhibits) and enjoyed roaming and learning. Here are just a few of the friends we encountered at the aquarium.

Have you been to the Monterey Bay Aquarium? Inquiring minds want to know: what’s your favorite Aquarium that you have visited?

Empanadas for Everyone

I’ve learned during my business travels that, at the airport, it’s best to eat where the pilots, flight attendants, and ground crews eat. Watch where they go and then get in line.

There are several places within Miami International Airport (MIA) to find lightly golden, delicious pillows of goodness known as empanadas. But there’s really only one place you should get them from: La Carreta. It’s a cafe that serves empanadas, pastelitos, sandwiches and other snacks…along with coffee (American and Cuban), tea and other beverages. La Carreta is inside the D Terminal (Gate 37) and there’s one outside of security in the E Terminal (along with several other locations throughout Miami.)

Empanadas make the perfect breakfast, lunch, or dinner. And only when I’ve had an empanada (or two!) do I consider my trip to Miami a complete success.

I go for the chicken variety…

and the spinach and cheese variety.

And if you’re looking for something less savory and more fruity, the guava pastelito does not disappoint!

Here’s the link. Vamonos a La Carreta!

Easter Egg

I absolutely adore these shoes from J.Crew, but seriously feel like I’m channeling an Easter egg when I wear them. I’m a big fan of layers when I travel. I wore the cardigan at the office and took it off for a quick walk to the hotel (there’s a reason the basketball team is called the Miami Heat!)

MIA on the 12th of May

I traveled to Chicago on Friday to celebrate Mom’s birthday, Mother’s Day, L1’s dance recital, L2’s First Communion, and L3’s love of “Frozen” (the nieces’ and nephew’s names all start with L!)  I’m spending M-W in Miami for meetings and a business dinner. This is as close as I’ll get to downtown or SoBe. Ahh, isn’t business travel so glamorous!

Giddy as a Baby on a Swing

I’m an avid blog reader and today (12 May) I took the leap and created my own blog. I’ve been married to my best friend, M, since Dec 2005 and my passions include travel, style, food and vintage cars. You can expect an occasional appearance by my favorite four-legged friends, Charlie Parker and Oscar Winn. Keep up with me on Pinterest and Insta, too!
