Wedding Fun at the Filter Building

We had a fantastic time at J and P’s wedding on Friday night! But I’m getting a little ahead of myself…

A friend and I started at Nordstrom at Northpark. I went to Bobbi Brown and she went to Kevyn Aucoin. With makeup done (a dewy, natural look for me), I raced over to the drybar for my blowout. Speaking of the drybar…LOVED the experience! Great blowout and their products smell divine (hello Mai Tai Spritzer!) I would totally go back! Here’s the during…

And the after!

ImageI ordered the Cosmopolitan…I’ve never had so much curl in my life!!

Running a few minutes behind, we took a few back roads to the venue. The bride and groom selected the Filter Building at White Rock Lake for their ceremony and reception. Though it was humid, the weather held up well…not too hot and no rain!

The Filter Building is a really cool, older building that’s got great bones and a phenomenal lakeside perch on White Rock Lake.

Image Doesn’t that old tower just look glorious and glowing bathed in the light from the sunset?

After the “I do’s” we hung out for a cocktail party and a few pictures on the lawn before heading inside.

The old, red brick exterior is met with an industrial interior…I love a good mix of styles! I can only describe their wedding as Texas Chic…think wildflowers and burlap with a little sparkle and lots of elegance. The happy couple thought of everything… a word search on the back of the programs (which doubled as fans), “dancing shoes” for the girls, milk glass vases for fresh, eclectic arrangements and the dinner was catered by the always tasty Celebration Restaurant. On the southern-inspired menu was a nice green salad, Chicken Madeira, oven roasted new potatoes and steamed asparagus. It was so yummy I forgot to take a picture! 😦

We worked off the supper and dessert calories with some good ol’ fashioned, photo booth fun. M, the girls and I were terribly uncoordinated!!

Image We let the bride and groom have a turn at the photo booth while we played goofballs in the foreground.

Not settled with our night, we took our talents to the dance floor and, on cue, they dimmed the lights to let our necklaces and glasses glowwwww!!

All in all, a clever, chic and eclectic wedding…with the Filter Building serving as a super fine backdrop! Tell me, what’s the coolest event/wedding venue you’ve been to?
